Joe Henley graduated from Mississippi State University in 1978 with a BA degree in Commercial Art. He then worked for a year and a half at a small advertising agency in Jackson MS. He did illustration and layout for various projects. Late in 1979 Joe took a job in sales and left the art world. He then got married and had 2 sons and not much time for art. Joe retired in 2019 and did some traveling and concentrated on working on a travel blog with his wife, Rosita Henley. In 2020 Covid hit, travel slowed and so did their interest in the travel blog. Rosita had started painting in the 2000’s and after her encouragement and Joe feeling the art calling him, he started working on art and a concept for painting he had started to develop years ago. Back in art school his work was very graphic and colorful and continues to apply these concepts. So far, he has had one piece accepted to the River Road Show, a national juried art competition sponsored by the Art Guild of Louisiana. He has hopes to produce many more pieces and enter more art shows
